This is for all the hardcore gamers out there that had to have a game system for all the times you couln't be at your house sitting in front of the tv. Nintendo introduced the Gameboy. The largest hardware seller of all time some 25 million units or more in peoples homes. I know I had one and I am betting you did to. The graphics at the time were top notch. Obviously not as good as playing the games in the original nintendo but definitely right up there. It satisfied everybody's hunger for gameplaying. That is when videogaming became huge in my mind. Back then, Nintendo was pretty much all there was for a long time once atari bowed out. The gameboy was awesome. Games like mario and tetris that you just could not put down. Once Zelda hit the gameboy it was over for me. That why Nintendo has never had a problem selling hardware because there 1st party games have always been so good and with a mascot by the name of Mario, Nintendo knew it was the leader of the industry. When Nintendo upgraded to the GB Color that' s when things got interesting. You could still use all the original GameBoy games would work and now they were in color. How awesome was that. Then Nintendo dropped the GBA and all the old games worked in that and I think this is where Nintendo has excelled and will continue to excel due to not screwing the customer then new hardware comes out. Nintendo has had there arms around portable gaming for pretty much 25 years so will Sony be able to come in with the PSP and clean house because we know the NGage couldn't hold a candle to the GameBoy!!! _________________ Don't Hate the Player, Hate the Game |

My daughter still has the Gameboy I started out with. She still plays the original games on her SP, Gameboy Advanced, Gameboy Color, and Gameboy! Talk about versatility! _________________ Only the best will do! |

Absolutely. Nintendo has never looked back since they got into the handheld game with the original GameBoy. My 3 and a half year old loves the gameboy. It is an old piece of equipment that he can play with and learn videogames with. I don't have to worry about him breaking it or scratching it because if he does, we can get another one for cheap. He plays with the GameBoy and I play with the new Sony PSP. Versatility you are right AceGear. The DS and the GBA are awesome because they are backward compatible. Keep up the good work Nintendo!! _________________ Don't Hate the Player, Hate the Game |
