Logitech announced today that it plans to manufacture officially licensed peripherals for Microsoft's upcoming Xbox 360.
"One of the best ways for gamers to take advantage of the graphics, games and processing speed of Xbox 360 is with first class peripherals," said Fred Swan, Logitech's director of strategic marketing for Interactive entertainment. "Like our current controllers, the products for Xbox 360 will be designed to give gamers the edge they want and need
Logitech plans to release its first lineup of peripherals when the Xbox 360 launches. More info to come later this year.
I don't think I will be buying Logitech equipment anymore, now that the XBOX 360 controllers are Wireless. I have always liked the 1st party peripherals, rather than 3rd party. _________________ Don't Hate the Player, Hate the Game |

Definitely, you will always want to get the peripherals that look most similar to what the console looks like (in terms of what the packaging looks like) such as getting a PS2 controller that has the same graphics design on the box as it does on the console. And also because peripherals are a good way for the company to earn extra money since people will want to make the best of their brand new incredible systems. _________________ Tis doubt which leadeth thee to Purgatory |

That is my feeling exactly Torque. I want my peripherals to match my console. I always felt maybe I was being snobby but I knew there had to be others out there that feel that way to. I have always used first party controllers. That is why I love my GameCube because of the Wavebird. Finally, Microsoft and Sony have went wireless right out of the box and so has Nintendo with the Revolution. Good move people, no more wires for the dog to chew up!! _________________ Don't Hate the Player, Hate the Game |

Wireless is so awesome. Especially for me, since my console and my computer (which I usually sit at while playing games to listen to music and to look for cheats/walkthroughs) are across my room so if anyone goes through it, they will end up either tripping, or pulling the console off the shelf and most of the time making it freeze up which gets VERY annoying after awhile and my dog tends to also chew on it when I am not at home. But unless the remote is REALLY revolutionary, it will still require batteries and will end up you having to constantly buy more and more instead of relying on power from your console, unless you can charge it, which will be a little more convenient. _________________ Tis doubt which leadeth thee to Purgatory |

Definitely Wireless in my eyes, is the only way to go. I just hate cords laying all over the place in my living room. I usually sit right in front of my TV probably no farther than 6 ft away. I like to get up close and personal with my games. Absolutely, I now have an 11 week old lab puppy who is into chewing so I always have to put the wires up. From what I have been reading, the XBOX 360's wireless controller will either require AA batteries or an optional rechargeable battery pack made by Microsoft. I think I will be opting for the rechargeable battery pack. Or I guess I could be a charger and rechargeable AA's. Either way the rumble feature will be in the mix which is what I miss with the WaveBird. Some games actually really use the rumble feature to show where treasure is buried or possibly gold. Haven't heard anything on the PS3 controller and we haven't even seen the controller for the Nintendo Revolution. That would be nice if we could rely on power from the console somehow!! That will be something to shoot for though!! _________________ Don't Hate the Player, Hate the Game |

If it involved console power, then it would involve some sort of radio signal, and would probably get screwed up in lightning storms and such, then again, they do advise unplugging your consoles during thunderstorms. AA's tend to last pretty long, and if it is both battery and charge capable, that would be really convenient, and if (like previous consoles) they come with the travel (LCD) screens, that would be...Hmm, I kinda feel confused on what I said about batteries, charges, and signals, somehow that combined with a travel screen is somehow both very convenient and might be very troublesome, you decide. _________________ Tis doubt which leadeth thee to Purgatory |

Yah I am a little confused to!! Oh well, it sounded good. Definitely, 3rd party vendors will be be making portable LCD screens, which will be awesome. You are right, it probably would get screwed up in lightning storms. Radio signals aren't always the greatest. AA battery's last a long time. Like in the Wavebird controller for the GameCube, they last for a long time, as long as you remember to turn it off!! _________________ Don't Hate the Player, Hate the Game |
