NBA Street Showdown for the PSP is basically NBA Street Vol 2 but with added features and that is a good thing. If you are a fan of basketball, you will probably enjoy NBA Street Showdown but most of you hoops fans have probably already played a game in the series somewhere down the line. NBA Street Showdown is a great port to a great game. The Sony PSP does a great job at portraying it's talents in the graphics department. Gamespot.com recently reviewed NBA Street Showdown and gave the game a 7.7 out of 10 which is very good, especially by gamespot.com standards. The two largest video game websites on the web today are ign.com and gamespot.com and their reviews of games are usually close but most of the time, gamespot.com have lower reviews of games because they grade harder. So for NBA Street Showdown to receive a 7.7 is great. Definitely worth the EA pricetag of $50 bones. The sound is very good and the only thing that had to be scaled back was the announcing of DJ Bobbito due to the UMD data amount but oh well. Trust me, you will not buy the game for DJ Bobbito. You do have the option to turn him off which you might. The soundtrack is very good. The only blemish that the game has is it's controls. Because we are losing some buttons on the PSP from it's transfer from consoles, we lose the ability to have more moves available. Although you can switch moves in the menu, you have to go to the menu to make those changes and cannot do them on the fly. You can mix it up by holding the turbo button while making the moves to double the amount of moves. All in all, NBA Street Showdown is a very good game for all you non-simulation basketball enthusiasts. Oh yah EA Sports BIG also made the numbers and names on the backs of the jerseys bigger so you can see who is who better. Good call EA!!
