Every year this question gets a little tougher for me. Which is the better football game on the XBOX, Madden NFL 2005 or ESPN NFL 2K5. This year is extremely tough. First you have Madden setting your wallet back a $50 spot and ESPN NFL 2K5 only a Jackson($20). That in itself could answer the question for you. But if you have $50 to spend on a game, my bet is that you probably have $70 to buy both. That in my eyes is a great investment. Both games offer so much but they are so different as well. Madden has a great franchise mode, awesome gameplay and phenominal A.I. ESPN offers some of the best graphics to date in a football game, a good franchise mode and The CRIB. The crib is a cool place to hang out, buy special items such as posters, bobbleheads etc. Both games offer online play through XBOX Live. If I had to choose one game I would go with ESPN but either way is a great choice.

I would also say both games are a good pick up. One of the main differences I see is that Madden NFL 2005 is more of a defensive game compared to ESPN NFL 2K5 which seems to be more offensive. What I mean by this is that it is much easier to score in ESPN NFL 2K5 so the scores tend to be much higher as compared to Madden NFL 2005. Maddens graphics are not as good but because Madden's gameplay seems a bit more realistic I chose that as the better game. They are both very close and it was hard making a decision. I wish they would combine the positive aspects of each game into one game.
