Halo 2 reported a record $125 million in sales in the first 24 hour period. That figure was for the United States and Canada which reported 2.38 million copies of Halo 2 sold for the Microsoft XBOX. Halo 2 has been estimated to be the biggest launch day for any entertainment product ever according to a Microsoft VP. Through September of 2004, the NPD Group which estimates sales for the total life of a video game. They have Super Mario 64 as the top selling game of all time bringing in $308 million, Grand Theft Auto:Vice City bringing in $284 million and the original Halo coming in at 8th with $149 million. Obviously Halo 2 will crack into the top 8 and could be most selling videogame ever at some point. Gamestop reported selling more than 500,000 copies of Halo 2 on the first day which is a record for them.
